The old Lansdowne Road stadium in Dublin was demolished over a period of 2 months in 2007, making way for the new Aviva Stadium. Most of the existing concrete block and brick was recycled and used as fill material. In excess of 35,000 cubic meters of concrete was used on-site, including 8,000 pre-cast units manufactured off-site. Kilsaran's expertise was called into play as the project required self-compacting concrete (SCC) technology as well as specialist knowledge for the application of exposed aggregate concrete. Additionally, the concrete used for this project had a cementitious replacement of 40% ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the build.
