Award of QQI Level 5 – Quarrying 360 Excavator Operations

In early 2020, Kilsaran ran a SOLAS QSCS course for selected Excavator Operators from our regional operations. The 3 operators selected, passed the course with flying colors, demonstrating their technical skill and ability in operating large machinery in a quarry environment. This course is now recognized as a QQI Level 5 vocational qualification and pictured below receiving their certificates are:

Picture 1: Raymond Moore, Plant Operator for our North Eastern regional operations along with Regional Manager, Peter Ryan and Group Health & Safety Manager, Eddie Mulgrew. Raymond joined Kilsaran in 2006 at Bellewstown quarry and was initially an excavator operator on a  CAT 325 with bucket and hammer. Shortly after Ray moved to our location at Gallstown  and has since operated mostly heavy track machines feeding a primary crushers.

Picture 2: Seen here receiving his certificate is Peter Colvin,
Plant Operator for our Midlands regional operations along with Regional Manager, David Hanley and Regional Health & Safety Advisor, Philip Brennan.

Raymond and Peter have demonstrated themselves to be a highly skilled and safety conscious operator and is a valuable asset to the region’s operations. Well done folks, keep up the great work!

In 2018 Kilsaran acquired a Volvo EC380 EL excavator (pictured).  Peter Ryan was tasked with putting together a team of experienced multiskilled operators who could travel to various locations to complete mass excavations and groundworks as required. Ray was a natural fit for this team considering his experience and very particular skillset. To date this team has worked at our head office in Dunboyne preparing for the new wet cast plant, and have removed overburden  at Gallstown, Ballinascorney, Bellewstown and Annagor.
