Meet the Technical Team
Our Technical Team is made up of highly experienced construction materials professionals drawn from a range of backgrounds including civil engineering, construction materials, concrete and asphalt technology as well as quality management.
The Technical Department is responsible for product quality management and product conformity within all Kilsaran Group operations as well as providing product training and specialist advice and guidance to both retail and trade customers and specifiers.
In addition, our Senior Technical Staff sit on and proactively contribute to representative bodies as well as on standardisation and industry best practice committees.
All Kilsaran Technical Staff undergo comprehensive technical training to ensure that the high professional standards which we set are consistently maintained.
Keith Goodwin – Group Technical Manager
Keith leads the Technical, Quality and product sustainability function across all Kilsaran Group operations. This includes proactively developing and implementing a progressive and proactive quality culture within the Group. He is responsible for leading and managing our highly experienced Technical Team, providing focused direction and support to the Board of Directors as well as Senior Operational Management.
He has over 15 years’ experience in the building materials industry in both Ireland and the UK and has held various roles including asphalt contracting, materials testing, laboratory and technical management, standards, certification and external auditing as well as research and development.
Keith holds primary qualification in Civil Engineering and a Degree in Highway Engineering and materials technology as well as a specialist postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Concrete Technology and is currently completing a research MSc in concrete technology. He is a current member of Engineers Ireland, the Institute of Asphalt Technology, the Institute of Concrete Technology and the Chartered Quality Institute. He is a member of the NSAI Concrete Standards Consultative Committee, the NSAI Masonry Panel and the Irish Concrete Federation’s Technical committee.
Ken Mulkerrins – Dry Products Business & Product Development Manager
Ken’s core responsibilities within the group centre around our Dry Products division. Here Ken is responsible for the design and development of new dry mortar products, the management of the division’s Quality Assurance and Factory Product Control systems in addition to product certification.
Ken also holds responsibility within the group for masonry block products, trowel ready mortars, self-levelling screeds, our ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001 management systems, internal auditing and product certification.
Ken has over 22 years’ experience in the design and development of dry mortar products and systems and within the building materials industry and held previous roles in materials laboratory management, Quality Assurance, product certification and process manufacturing. Ken holds qualifications Quality Assurance and Production & Operations Management in addition to a Diploma in Business Management & Employment Law. Ken is also a current member of the NSAI Masonry Panel.
Vincent Anderson – Technical and Operations Manager
Vincent’s core responsibilities are the operational and technical management of all Kilsaran ready mix plants in the Dublin area.
He is a concrete technologist with over 18 years’ experience in production and technical and holds qualifications in Quarry Management as well as a specialist postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Concrete Technology. He also holds a Diploma in Organisation Development & Transformation, and is currently in the process of completing a Master’s Degree in business.
He is a current member of the Institute of Concrete Technology and a member of the Irish Concrete Federation’s Technical committee.
Alan Holton – Dry Products Research and Development Manager
Alan’s main responsibilities cover many of the groups’ products including the Dry Products division along with technical responsibility for core products such as ready mix concrete, concrete blocks and aggregates in the midlands and Kildare areas.
With close to 20 years’ experience in construction, Alan has brought a wealth of knowledge to the team from previous roles such as Site Engineering and Management. Alan holds a Bachelor Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Dundee and has gained invaluable site experience working on major projects in both Ireland and the UK before specialising in Construction Materials.
Alan is based at our Dry Mortar production facility in Kildare where he focuses on Research & Development along with heading up our External Wall Insulation team. He also is heavily involved in the product specification and training side of the business directly liaising with architects, engineers and specifiers.
Clare McElroy – Technical and Quality Manager
Clare’s primary responsibilities within Kilsaran centre around the strategic direction and management of our six construction material testing laboratories throughout the group which are accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 quality management standard. She is also responsible for the recruitment, training and development of our junior technical staff as well as our core products quality management and product certification management systems. In addition Clare manages the product quality and technical function for our company locations in the South Meath area which includes readymix concrete, concrete blocks and aggregate production facilities.
She has over 25 years’ diverse experience in the building materials industry having been involved in both production and operations as well as in quality and technical aspects of the industry. Clare is highly experienced in the area of management systems and their application in both the heavy building materials industry and in construction more generally.
Stephen Greene – Technical Manager Southern Region
Stephen is the Technical Manager for the company’s operations in the southern region. He is responsible for the quality control of aggregate production, agri-lime, masonry blocks and ready-mix concrete at our sites in Cork and Tipperary.
Stephen has extensive experience in the construction and materials industry having worked in Ireland, Australia and the UK as a Materials Engineer over the last 12 years. During this time, he has managed large scale laboratories, overseeing and managing the operations and quality control of all earthworks, asphalt and concrete operations on large infrastructure projects.
He holds a diploma in laboratory technology as well as a diploma in asphalt and pavement studies and is currently completing a university certificate in concrete technology at the University of Derby.
