Streetscape System | High-Strength Paving Installation System

What Is The Streetscape System?

The Kilsaran Streetscape System is a fully integrated paving installation solution designed to deliver exceptional durability, performance and efficiency across urban, commercial and residential hard‑landscaping environments. Combining our Priming Slurry, High‑Strength Bedding Concrete (HSBC) and Rapid‑Set Jointing Mortar, the system provides a robust, compliant and long‑lasting foundation for all concrete, natural stone and block paving applications.

Optimised for modern construction demands, the Streetscape System ensures superior bond strength, faster installation timelines and enhanced resistance to movement, moisture and weathering.

Why Choose the Kilsaran Streetscape System?

  • High‑strength, fully compatible components engineered to work as a unified system
  • Consistent performance across varying site conditions
  • Reduced installation defects caused by poor bonding or improper bedding
  • Rapid curing properties to streamline project timelines
  • Suitable for pedestrian, commercial and heavy‑duty vehicular paving

System Components:

Step 1: Priming Slurry

Our high‑performance Priming Slurry is specially formulated to maximise bond strength between the sub‑base and paving elements. It promotes reliable adhesion, reduces the risk of movement and ensures the long‑term stability of the installation.

How To Use:

  • Ensure the sub-base is clean, free of dust, debris, and any contaminants.
  • Identify and account for any movement or construction joints that must be carried through to the surface.
  • If the concrete base is dry, pre-soaking may be required.
  • Prepare the priming slurry by mixing it into a thick paste using a paddle drill mixer (5-5.4 litres per bag).
  • Apply a 1-2mm thick layer of the priming slurry evenly across the sub-base.

Step 2. High Strength Bedding Concrete (HSBC)

HSBC provides the compressive strength and bedding stability required for heavily trafficked areas. Its moisture‑adjusted consistency allows for precise placement while maintaining exceptional load‑bearing capability.

How To Use:

  • Mix the HSBC to a moist consistency using 2.2-2.5 litres of water, enough to form a “snowball.”
  • Only mix what’s needed to lay pavers while the product remains moist.
  • Lay the HSBC with a sufficient surcharge to achieve the specified compacted bedding depth.
    • For 40mm depth, the initial depth may need to be 10-20mm deeper before compacting with a maul.
  • Pre-soak paving units if necessary.
  • Prime the base of each paving unit with a 1-2mm layer of fresh slurry, either by brushing or dipping.
  • Lay the unit by ramming it into place with a maul, ensuring the correct level and laying depth.
  • For depths over 75mm, apply a layer-by-layer method with priming slurry between layers.

Step 3. Rapid Set Jointing Mortar

Our Rapid‑Set Jointing Mortar ensures durable, weather‑resistant joints with rapid curing to speed up project completion. Its easy‑flow formulation allows joints to fill efficiently without compromise.

How To Use:

  • Ensure the paving and joints are clean before applying the jointing mortar.
  • Wet the paving surface immediately before jointing to prevent staining.
  • Mix 4.25 litres of clean water per 25kg bag of mortar, creating a lump-free slurry. Do not remix or add water later.
  • Pour the mortar onto the pre-wetted surface and brush into joints with a soft brush or squeegee.
  • Fill joints to the surface, allowing for settlement, and remove excess mortar with the squeegee.
  • Lightly spray water as the mortar hardens to assist with cleaning.
  • Once the joints harden (around 15 minutes, depending on temperature), clean the surface with a steady water flow and diagonal sweeping to prevent staining.
  • Use a belt cleaner if needed, and inspect the surface to ensure all excess mortar is removed.
