Stair and Lift Cores usually consist of twinwall or solid wall panels combined with precast stair flights and landings.

The precast walls are usually designed to provide stability to the overall structure. The cores are most effective in this regard if they are evenly distributed around the perimeter of the larger structure. Continuity reinforcement, in the form of projecting bars or site placed reinforcement, ties the surrounding floor membrane to the core walls.
