Goal Zero

Goal Zero is safety initiative that was implemented in Kilsaran in January 2021. Goal Zero is not just a statement, or a phrase by a frame of mind where all staff must play their part and strive for continuous improvement.

Goal Zero focuses on 3 fundamental concepts:

• Think Safe
• Work Safe
• Home Safe

It is a vision to operate a workplace without exposing any individual to injury or illness through implementation of safe sustainable ways of working. The focus is on the ‘best available and reasonable safety practices’, to eliminate risk through improved hazard identification and team ownership to not put themselves or others at risk.

In 2025, the Kilsaran Health & Safety Committee introduced the Goal Zero Award. A winner is selected each quarter and can be for an individual employee or group based for the site.  The criteria for the award is based on observation reporting, good initiative or behaviour shown at a location, near miss reporting/good catches or where a division shows their commitment to safety on site through continuous improvement.
