Mark Nolan
Kilsaran’s Paving and Block Production Manager Mark Nolan joined the Kilsaran team in 1996. Kilsaran has offered Mark the opportunity to work, train and develop with a dynamic company. With over 15 years of paving and block production and machine operation experience under his belt, Mark has seen first-hand how he and Kilsaran has evolved since his recruitment back in the mid nineties.
Outside of his work life, Mark is an avid GAA man and enjoys nothing more than coaching and mentoring underage GAA teams at a club and county level. Mark previously guided the U14 hurlers to their first ever Feile in 2018.
On his down time, Mark enjoys a good game of badminton and getting out on the golf course as often as he can.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The main aspect of my job satisfaction is when I can see productivity increasing within the same time-frame as previous month or year. To see that incremental improvement means we are putting our industry best practices to best use.
What is it like to work for Kilsaran?
Working for Kilsaran has always been an enjoyable experience for me. It has given me the chance to meet a wide variety of skilled people and has helped me to develop new skills and abilities through my own experiences within the manufacturing industry.
How has Kilsaran supported that development?
Senior Management within the organisation have made a massive impact on my professional development, particularly the mentoring I received from Sean Brady and Pat Fox, when I first joined Kilsaran.
I have always been encouraged to use my own initiative where possible and this has enabled me to challenge myself and progress my career from operations to management.
Any advice to those considering a career at Kilsaran?
It can be a demanding job, but an extremely rewarding one. The construction industry is very competitive and it challenges you to perform to your maximum ability. You start seeing how much you can actually do and how much you can actually achieve – which is gratifying.
