A combination of Kilsaran render materials were tailored specifically for the project and consisted of; Kilsaran`s NEW DuraRend, Ceresit`s CT16 Primer and then Ceresit`s CT79 Elastomeric Render as a finish coat

About Nazareth House
Kilsaran are the only Republic of Ireland based rendering mortar manufacturer to hold third party factory production control certification to I.S. EN 998-1 and NSAI Agremént certification for hybrid rendering systems consisting of mineral renders conforming to EN 998-1 and organic based renders complying with EN 15824.
Kilsaran’s DuraRend Classic System and GP Render were the products of choice for the recently completed extension to Nazareth House Nursing Home in Dublin 3. Kilsaran recently supplied their NSAI Agremént certified DuraRend Classic System and GP Render to Kilcawley Construction for use on a new 90 bed Nursing Home. The area of the new building is 6500sq.m over 3 storeys. On completion of the project approximately 3500sq.m of the existing Nursing Home was refurbished to meet current HIQA requirements. The overall project value was €14 million. Specification requirements called for a durable, low maintenance self-cleaning façade that could be colour matched to a variety of colour shades in the existing building.
Specification requirements called for a CE marked, EN 998-1 compliant, sand and cement plaster for the internal walls which received a gypsum skim coat finish. Internal wall structures consisted of dissimilar substrates presenting a challenge for plastering coats. Kilsaran provided guidance on the treatment of these areas and supplied their Super Bond Render to act as a preparatory coat to provide a suitable key for their NSAI Agremént certified, CE marked, EN 998-1 FPC certified, GP Render.
This independently certified, factory produced plaster provided a high level of confidence to the client and
design team.

With an annual footfall of more than 30 million, Grafton Street plays a key role in attracting shoppers and visitors to the city centre. The colour palette used will be similar to that used in the O’Connell Street and Henry Street repaving schemes. This will help create a noticeable ‘civic spine’ between Parnell Square and Saint Stephens Green. The carriageway granite is laid on a 50mm compacted bed of BS7533 Compliant Kilsaran Streetscape High Strength Bedding Concrete (HSBC). Kilsaran Priming Slurry is used on the Granite units to achieve the strict adhesion requirements as set out in BS7533 Parts 7&12. The 10mm Wide Joints are filled with Kilsaran Rapid Set Jointing Mortar. The footway’s which will not receive commercial traffic are laid on a mortar bed of Kilsaran 3:1 Sand&Cement at 30mm compacted depth. The Joints are also filled with Kilsaran Rapid Set Jointing Mortar. There are two electrical powered Silo’s located nearby with Storage of up to 33 tonnes of the HSBC and 3:1 Sand&Cement in each. A small teleporter is used to transport the bedding materials to site on demand which cuts down on site mixing and reducing therefore dust and noise pollution.

Dublin’s newest bridge, the Rosie Hackett bridge which spans the River Liffey is benefitting from the technical and aesthetic qualities of Kilsaran International. Kilsaran are delighted to have been involved in the supply of a range of independently tested Streetscape BS 7533 compliant materials to Graham Construction who were the main contractors in the construction of the new Rosie Hackett Bridge in Dublin City Centre. Kilsaran products including; bedding course, jointing and priming mortars were supplied as part of the construction of the bridge, which cost around €13.5m to complete and was funded by the NTA.
The new bridge is a road bridge joining Marlborough Street to Hawkins Street in Dublin City Centre and it is intended solely for use by public transport, taxis, cyclists and pedestrians. The structure spans 47m, is 26m wide and has a span to depth ratio of 1:100. It is designed to be a slender, single span, smooth concrete structure, with the underside of the bridge designed to be as high above the water as possible so that river traffic is not impeded. It’s a central piece of infrastructure in the Luas Cross City project, which is to connect the Luas Red and Green lines. It is the 21st bridge over the Liffey between Chapelizod and Dublin Port. The Luas carriageway holding the tram lines is constructed with a Natural Granite Stone Cobble.
The Granite Cobbles were laid on a bed of Kilsaran HSBC along with Kilsaran Priming slurry to achieve the strict adhesion requirements as set out in BS7533 Part 7. The cobbles received the Kilsaran Rapid Set Jointing Mortar in the 10mm wide joints. The adjacent footways were paved with Natural Granite Stone Slabs and were also laid and jointed with the Kilsaran BS7533 Compliant materials. The Rosie Hackett Bridge is the only city centre bridge that is currently named after a woman and will significantly improve bus performance along the city quays and provide an alternative route to O’Connell Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians crossing the Liffey. The bridge will also be used by south-bound trams after the completion of the Luas cross city project, scheduled for 2017.

10,000m² of Kilsaran’s Newgrange Paving Flags (600x400x80)
1,100 linear meters of Newgrange kerbs
Client
Dublin Airport Authority
Kilsaran supplied 10,000m² of its Newgrange Silver & Black Granite paving flags for the set down area and foot paths around the Airport. The flags were manufactured with a special fibre reinforced mesh to help withstand the extra loading from heavy duty sweepers and maintenance trucks. This process of shot – blasting gives a fine textured feel to paving. Kilsaran’s state – of – the -art manufacturing facility in Dunboyne has five secondary finishing lines, one of which is a shoot – blasting line. 10,000m² of Kilsaran’s Newgrange Paving Flags (600x400x80) with fibre reinforced mesh made to order was used around the Airport. A further 1,100 linear meters of Newgrange kerbs was used to eliminate damage caused by heavy vehicles mounting the pavements.

The extension almost doubles the size of the resort which now has 134 bedrooms. The brief was very specific in that the new extension had to blend seemlessly with the exisiting building which is in the style of a 19th century Fench Chateau.
The Kilsaran Ceresit-Ceretherm External Wall Insulation sytem was used on the new Liffey Wing and the results speak for themselves.

In addition to the aesthetic considerations for this public area, the design had to allow for Heavy Goods Vehicles on the narrow streets, along with a car parking area on Haymarket.
Antique Setts (reclaimed by Dublin City Council) were used, laid on a rigid base as provided by Kilsaran, to provide a durable long lasting pavement that also retained the historic character of the area.
The solution provided incorporated the following : (1) BS7533 was adopted for the design of the road base along with the Bedding and Jointing Materials.; (2) the Kilsaran Streetscape system was used for the Bedding Concrete and Jointing Mortar for the Antique Dublin Setts; (3) a 3-step procedure involved priming the base of the setts , laying on the fresh bedding concrete and then filling the joints using the BS7533 slurry jointing procedure.
Kilsaran also took into account environmental concerns relevant to the project. The Company advised the use of the Kilsaran SiloMix system which provided an on-demand solution for the 300 ton of High Strength concrete required for the project. This delivery system eliminated the need for disposing of 12,000 25kg bags of concrete mix. The Silo solution also guaranteed that dust was kept to a minimum.

Masonry finishes for the build included a Vitessa White clay brick, which needed to be built with a designed masonry mortar. Kilsaran supplied samples from their coloured masonry mortar range to enable the client to find the colour that would best complement the brick unit.
Kilsaran Ultra White Masonry Mortar was chosen by the architects and supply commenced in March 2011. The mortar was supplied to the construction site in Kilsaran silos, where it was mixed as needed using the silo mixing equipment. Due to the nature of the dry mortar system and silo mixing stations, Kilsaran could guarantee the consistency of both the mortar colour and quality on site.
